OFFICIAL REPORT. FROM THE HIGH COMMISSIONER The High Commissioner, reports as| follows under date of London, October '22nd : : — ■ The enemy - attempted unsuccessfully an attack against salients east 1 and south-east of the fort at G-iverichy. In the valley of Souehez the enemy's atempted programme was easily -repulsed.- in Champagne a very violent bombardment at-three jioints "was everywhere visibly effective. In Argonne a. mine explosion destroyed a German post. A group of Allied aeroplanes bombed the aviation park between Argonne and the Meuse. PARIS, October 22. A communique states : The German bombardment continues very violently westward of Taliure, eastAvard of Butte, at Mesnil, and Ville-sur-Tourbe. We everywhere repulsed them by a repressive fire, which was clearly very effective against, their batteries and trenches. The explosion of a French mine in Argonne destroyed an enemy post.
