A GERMAN THREAT.
IF RIGA IS NOT CAPTUIIED. PETROGRAD, October 22. The Germans informed the people of Mitau that unless Riga! is captured they will raze all towns and villages in the line of retreat. OFFENSIVE CONTINUES. BIG CAPTURES BY RUSSIANS. PETROGRAD, October 22. A communique states : Our surprise attacks carried part of the enemy's" position in the Novoalexinetz district, northward of Tarnopol, also eastward of Lopuschno and northward of Novoalexinetz. We captured during the day 148 officers, 7,500 men, two howitzers, and a number of machine guns.
