The High Commissioner reports as follows:— LONDON, October iQth, 1.50 a.'m. General Sir C. C. Munrb' has been appointed to the command in the Mediterranean in" succession to General Sir lan Hamilton. In ■ the meantime Lieut-General Birdwood is temporarily .commanding. At Artois and Souchez the enemy massed, but were unable to leave their trenches. , ' . There were artillery duels at Somme and Champagne, where an important :munitjon depot exploded.; .
