ALLEGED MURDER. CHRISTCHUECH, Oct. 18.— Mrs I Mary Ann Reed, 30 years of age, was j arrested, on a warrant on a charge of murdering her twins by strangling them at Hornby on Saturday. It is 3 stated that Mrs. Reed; while separated 3 from her husband, gave birth to twins and soon after told her parents where i they were. The parents found the - twins strangled by linen bards under ? a gorse hedge. The doctor's evidence 3 showed that the children had breath- • cd. The woman was arrested. The \ inquest is proceeding. I FOUND DEAD. [ AUCKLAJND, Oct. 18.— Alexander J Grlennie, 69 years of age, was found in i Cornwall Park on a wood heap with, a deep cut in his wrist, suffering from f loss of blood and shock from which he fc died. He stated that he sustained the injuries through falling from a T window. At the inquest evidence was ? given that deceased was found alongside a chopping block. Thei-e was a 3 sharp axe close by with bloodstains on , the blade. Deceased might I have injured himself with the «.xe ; he didn't remember. A verdict of b death due to exposure and exhaustion " loltuwing severe hemorrhage was returned.
