It is understood that Mr W. F. !Mkirsh, Chief Draughtsman for . the. Wellington, district of the ' Lands Department, is likely to be appointed Chief Commissioner of Crown Lands nnd Chief Surveyor of Westland. Mr Marsh is highly spoken of as a most promising officer, and one likely to make his mark, in the public service. Yesterday the members of the Greymouth Golf Club assembled at Revington's Hotel for the purpose of making a presentation to Mr Len Taylor, one of the members, ou the eve of his leaving Greymouth to go on active service. The Club Captain (Mr J. Stenhouse) presided, aud in a happy speeh complimented Mr Taylor on the gatriotic spirit that had animated him, and on behalf of the Club presented him with a wristlet watch. Mr Taylor suitablyresponded.
