THROUGH THE STREETS The procession marched headed by both the Battalion and Citizens ojandS) which played marches appropriate to the occasion. The procession was cne of the largest ever seen in Greymouth and comprised Territorials, National Reserve, (Infantry), National Reserve (Mounted), and the general public. AT THE SHIP'S SIDE. The proceedings were of a. most en_ thnsiastic nature. The Bands, played "It's a Long Way to Tipperary," the "Marselliise," "Auld Lang Syne" and other appropriate airs, while cries of goodbye "Charlie," farewell "Jack," and so on filled the air. It was impossible to approach the ship's side so numerous was the crowd. Cheers frcm the ship rang out and were responded to by cheers from the wharf. Hventually the boat moved off, the Bands played ' ' God Save the King, ' ' and the crowd moved homewards contented and .iubilant at the send off the. members of the "Eighth had re. ceived.
