A very enjoyable evening was spent at Ikamatua on the 4th, August when the -residents assembled together to bid farewell to Mr. and Mrs. H. Jackson. Mr. Jackson has held the position of Bailway Porter at Ikamatua and has proved himself an obliging and painstaking official. He has been transferred to Greymouth . The ball was kept going until the "wee sma' hours of the morning" and during the evening songs, were rendered by Mr. J. Coul son, Mr. Barltrop, Mrs. Hardie and Miss Watson. After a very fine sup per considering the short noti6e given to arrange matters, Mr. A. Hardie in a very appropriate speech preesnted Mr Jackson with a well filled purse, which went to show the esteem in which he was held by the residents of this fast growing community.
