AUSTRIAN TERRITORY OCCU-

PARIS, June 10

The Petit Journal states that the Italians destroyed the railway at Roveredo and severely shelled Trento, Beseno and Besenelly. They destroyed some of the Austrians best positions on the right bank of the Lagarina and some on tke left bank.

The Italian losses were relatively small compared with the extent of the territory evacuated and the importance ot the positions taken.

ROME, June 10

Official.— On the Tyrol-Trentino frontier we continue to fortify our positions preparatory to the development of fresh operations. Despite strenuous opposition we approached Falzarego Pass and captured a gun and a quantity of ammunition. Yesterday Alpine Chasseurs captured an important position at Preikaffel, close to Gamica and Montecroce. After several days' fierce fighting we took 100 prisoners.

The High Commissioner reports as follows: — • •••

At Isonzo on Monday and^JTuesday the Italians won important positions. There was obstinate resistance by the enemy. The Italians occupied Monfalcone, several hostile batteries beinsj damaged. In the' region of Montenero the Austrian position was occupied, thf. enemy fled, leaving 100 dead and 60 wounded. Near Caporetta 70 Bosnian deserters surrendered. In other parts of Isonzo the Italians made over 400 prisoners.

The Italian losses are not serious. Prisoners state that the Austrian losses are very great.
