ITS VALIDITY QUESTIONED. MEAT EXPORTERS CONFER. pB7 ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH— COrYKIGHT.] SYDNEY, February 12. Mr Holimui stated that he had been informed tluit the validity of the Meat Bill is to be tested. At a conference of meat exporters' lit avus unanimously decided to assist the Imperial Government, and promising to hand over all the available meat stocks wherever desired, ensuring sufficient supplies for the Allied Armies, and also to snfeguurd the supply to the the public of Britian both as regards quantity and price. It was generally admitted that they were in a position to create difficulties by carrying out the provisions of the Act. The Trade thinks that if prices arc fixed on the basis on the London party there will be no difficulty in securing outside supplies, beyond those already stored. It was anticipated that the question cf freights would create difficulty as ton nage is exceptionally scarce lately, the position being acute since August.
