GERMANS VIOLENT BOMBARDMENT. PARIS, February 13. Official. — The Germans are violently bombarding from the sea to Lys. The effect of the lyddite shells was terrific and created great havoc among the enemy. The British storming columns rushed the position on three sides before the Germans recovered from the effects of the bombardment. The Germans left seventy dead, but the British casualties were insignificant. 1 The Germans ea.r'ly on the 7th advanced to the Canal bank shouting: "Don't shoot. We are engineers.' The British waited until the enemy were a few yards distant, and then a machine-gun opened fire.. The enemy fled leaving 30 dead. A great feature of all the recent fi*rht ing was the accuracy of the British artillery.
