Poherua, s.s., arrived yesterday from Dunedin and sails to-day for Lyttelton. Taviuni, s.s., is due from Dunedin, via East Coast ports. She loads for Bluff and Duuedin. Petone, s.s., arrived yesterday from Wellington. She sails to-day for Timaru. Lily, schooner arid Annie. Hill, schooner, sail this . morning for Lyttelton. Kowhai, s.s., arrived yesterday from Gisborne. She loads timber for Timariij pamaru, arid Dunedin. Kamo, s.s.,- is due from ' Wellington Vonrlay; H]ie ? loads'a^l 'retufns^ >,•;. " Qpouri, s.s., sdils to-day for' Lyttelton. . ' - Kini, s*s., is due from Onehunga and New Plymouth on Monday. She loads for Wellington and Napier. Mr. W. J. Swales Ayres, chief officer of the Manuka, has gone ashore at Sydney on holiday leave. Mr. J. Ryan, late of the Willochra, is now chief officer of the Manuka. Captain J. Baldwin has returned from holiday, and has rejoined the Kittawa. Captain Pryde, who was acting on the Kittawa, has relieved Captain Irwin as master of the Taviuni. Mr. ¥, Warren, who has been act-ing-extra officer of the Warrimoo, went ashore at Wellington. Mr. E. J. Fowler, who has bee^ ashore for some time has joined the vessel. Mr. Jeffrey, who was sixth engineer of the T urakina, has been promoted to be fifth of the Hurunui. : Mr» Dowell, late chief officer of the Ngakuta, is under orders to join the Ngahdre in a similar capacity. Messrs Wilson and Gimmell, formerly third and fifth engineers of the Turakina respectively, have resigned from the New Zealand Shipping Company's service. Captain W. Bobinson and Captain J. Reed, both of Auckland, have been appointed nautical assessors at the inquiry into the circumstances of the sailor Joseph Craig strikiug Eough Rock in Rangitoto Channel on Sunday, June 21. Captains Reed arid Robinson have also been apopinted to act with the Magistrate during the investigations of the Clansman-Pahiki inquiry.
