FALSE PRETENCES
A YOUNG WOMAN CHARGED. (Per United Press .Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, July 2. Nessie Carter, aged 20, a girl who was released from reformative treatment after serving only part of her sentence was before the court to-day on charges of false pretences. , The evidence showed that she had had many adveriturcs during the past five weeks duping boardinghouse keep ers and shopkeepers by posing as the niece of "several well-known residents. j The .Magistrate questioned the method adopted by the Prison Board in releasing the girl, and sentenced her to three month's imprisonment and one year's reformative treatment.
