SAD FATALITY
YOUNG -MAN KILLED AT
PAROA.
The riews reached town last night of a sad fatality at Stratford and Blair's mij.l at Paroa,' whereby a single ran named Peter Ewart, about thirty years of age lost his life. It appears that, about three o'clock yesterday afternoon deceased along with Mr." Hopgood was in charge of a rake of trucks conveying logs down an incline -of about 20 chairs in length and at. one part vety steep; The logs are lowered down the incline by means of a winch, and deceased who was trollymafli was in . full charge of the operation^.
At the steep portion of the incline some of the coupling gave way, and Mr... Hopgood ] called out to deceased to let go. For some unknown reason Ewart did not obey the summons', and hung on. and, carried away with the trucks which shot over a bank at the fooj of the incline. When . picked, up Ew;art was quite dead, .. but the . . body was' not " inahgled in" any way, and the belief is' that he must have beert killed by the concussion. : .
