'::i . . ,:'.. , - SYDNEY, C<t 5 The^ weather kept fine but there was a thunderstorm after the last -race. The track was in excellent condition. Lord- and Lady Denmain were present. The ,atte.rudance was. sixty thousand. Empexador was prominent throughout the • Spring Stakes, but Soltano .was very . disappointing. Appareoitly ■something had happened to him, : a's after about a mile ho fell back last from second place. Beragoon under pressure proved a game colt. Beau Soult failed to stay. The owner scratched Beragoon for the Metropolitan owing to the severe race for the Derby. • . The field was a record, five more thaa the previous largest. Aleconner wa's a surprise pack&i owing to pbo^ track form. The public showed resentment at the late scratching of-Duke Foote for the Metropolitan by loud hooting before and after the Spring Stakes. ■ It was the worst demon'stratioin seen at Randwick under similar cicufnstances.'. . , • , .
