.The monthly meeting- of the Grey School Committee held last night was at^iVd^d by Messrs. R. J. Williams (Chairman),. A. Doig, . G. Sweetman, J. Weaver ,R.- J. Forsyth, W. Boucher and'w! Blair. RECTOR'S; REPORT. ■■",-."■ The Rector *. submitted -the' following report:— ■ -'a. 7 v a Dear Sir ,-t-I have the honour tp re-; .port for. the month of September as follows:— v ■'.- .'■;'• -M- • Primary Department.— The average roll number -was 245' boy. anda .253 girls, total 498 ; the .averageance was 227 boys -and -223; girls, tb-tal 450 ; the .average number of 'absentees .was' 4.8 ' ' ;;.,; *. . ; ;;". '■'. ■Secondary Department.— The average roll number was •21 boys and 20 girls, total' 41 ; the average attendance' was 19^ boysfahd 18; girls, total 37 ; , the average number of- absentees was; 4.. aa ..*••;- ','_,.'" - - N . .. - ,•'. - Blaketown:— The 'average roll number; was 65 boys , and •55 girls, total 120 -the -average attendance was 60 boys and .47 girls, total 107; the average number of absentees was 13. ' Miscellaneous.— A Bible class was conducted at the main school by Arch deacon York, on the 3rd., ioth., and '17th. ' ■:."■■• ■'*. ''.' '■':■'.-''■..■ ' CORRESPONDENCE. From the Ladies' Physical Culture Class asking . for. the use* of. 'the Gymnasium on two. evenings a week- from 7.30. tb 9:30. o'clock. j Mr, Sweetman said /.that 'the Com\mktee should meet the- request: provided that the class bore~. all the cost. of lighting. He : moved that the request be granted' provided that the Chairman and Secretary make suitable arrangements. /; ' This was seconded .' by , Mr. Forsyth and carried. ■ VISITORS' REPORT. The visitors for the month (Messrs Dovg-a anda Boucher ' reported, as follows:—- ■ M. ..*■ We visited the Grey and Blaketown -.eh no Js as requested, , and .-• beg: to report; as follows: The average attendance was 584 f° r the last quarter bu? of a ioll number of bsS. The Rector informed us that this; was the highest average for the year, : The only thing that requires attention is a new castor to put on the p*' ano. He also pointed : out the site I* . *iv« new building, which i& altered slightly since the last visit. Report.— The , boys' w.c. Is jn the course of removal and* will 'take about ■•y *r + .night;to be m position. The girls' w.c. had to be partitioned off so as to allow both; sexes to use it. Wo would also recommend that thf •care-taker '.be instructed to hose the same out every night after school. . Blaketown.--A new lock on the infant room door; also, half a dozen locker lids, a broom* rack, and a wirx 1 boll rope. The teachers complain nf >oo much crowding m the desks. The two new desks have not arrived- .^ far, and the\roll number m this- room is 69 and nine, desks jto hold, them, an average of almost eight when there should only be six., - The various matters referred to were j loft m the hands of the Chairman to I attend to. !
