Speaking at the Acclimatisation Conference yesterday, the President said, that one of the most important matters the Conference had to deal with was to get -protection put on the opposum again as. soon as possible. The Conference passed a resolution that the Government I>e -urged to reinstate protection on opossums, providing for an open season . during three months in each year, viz;,, May, June and : July or subject to recommendation of the local society ;; that ; a license fee of '^1 and.i upwards be imposed,: and that all -skins taken during an" open^season :must : ;beVsold;with in- thirty after; the "close"" of "the. season. . .. ■■ ■.-■ ■-. ;■:•; "' • ".
