NELSON^ May 14. : The final seleetiipn of a site for .the Cawthron observatory will not be made until the arrival from England of- the scientist, whom Sir. Robert- BaJli director of he Camibridge University has boen invited to nominate. • . - When ths gentleman has. been appo.iihted his first cluty upon arrival here , will be to deter mdne the most suitable site for 1 the institution. . • . • . -. Several sites ..have been offered. It is contemiSiated that the English scientist will supervise the- erection and equipment of the observatory, and afterwards act; as director. MISS PROCTOR'S MOVEMENTS. Miss Proctor, who has -been staying, at Nelson, after the conclusion of her lecturing tour, had several conferences with Mr Cawthron,. and inspected . the available sites for the observatory. She is fully convinced that Nelson is, an 'eminently suitable .location Tor siich. an institution.
