(By Electric Telegraph — Copyright)

(Per Press Association)

, . SYDNEY, May 14. Mr Milward, manager of the Pacific Cable Board, in commenting on Canada's .recently, announced .contract with the Poulsen Wirclcs's Company, foreshadowed a reduction 'in the cost of coded cables to London from 3s to 2b Bd, saving fourpence a word, .ithough there js no- imformati-on from the London office on the matter. If the win:lcss system is proved efficient and a benefit to the public, the Pacific Company will certainly -malcc . arrangcmeints for the Poulsen Company to carry their messages to , Australia. Whatever .reduction im rates could be obtained will be passed on to 'the public. At the same time the B,oard looked upon wireless communication .across the Atlantic as in a somewhat mebulous state. Something -would have to be done to make the .system more reliable than at present, before it can. generally be used for commercial and press pur poses.
