The familiar story of how Queen Victoria met Prince Albert and fell in love with him, is* fully related in .the dfaries \vhich were written by her late Majesty during 'her girlhood, . and which have just been published.

Describing the way in which she proposed to her future consort, the Queen wrote:: — "At about half-past 12 I sent for Albert, and he came to the room where I was alone.
