ATHLETIC.
HOCKEY/ TRINITY WIN TRECUP. Last Saturday there was a large number of hockey enthusiast present on the Park to ; witness the. last two matches of the season. The first match between: Mawhera 'and Oolumba proved a very willing and even game, resulting in a draw, each "side scoring one goal. 'The second match between Trinity and Cobden for the championship prov ed one of the best games seen oh the Park for some considerable time. The Cobden team was a very formidable one, and consisted of a couple of players from Hokitika while Trinity played with their usual team. From the bully off to call of time the pace was a cracker and some good hockey was showh. on numerSous 1 occasions. At call. of time both team had scored four goals, but it was decided to continue for an extra fifteen minutes. It was in this last quarter of an hour that Trinity's combination told and they shot three goals. The game thus end-ing—-tTrinity 7, Cobden 4. For the winners the whole team played very well and there is no doubt that on the day's play the better team won. Smith and Glen in the backs deserve' special mention as also A'Court and Robbie in the forwards. Goals were shot by A'Court (2), Parfitt (2), Robbie (2) and Pring (1). For the losers J. Thomas wa«. easily the best back on his side wliile Duffy,- Nelson, Morris and Thomas played well. Morons, Nelson, Shaw and Duffy found the net for Cobden. Mr. McFadyen made an efficient referee.
