SYDNE V, August 23 . j A Stock Exchange deputation . in- ! tervicwed Mr. Carmichael concerning the Gas Bill. The press ,\vere not admitted. Mr. Carmichael, in a subsequent statement, said that the deputation agreed to the principle of the Bill and to most of its provisions, but con-: sid'ercd that the, interests of investors should be conserved. They suggested that the assets of a company should be capitalised and a dividend of five per centum on the total paid. He informed them that he was not prepared to capitalise the large profit the com-, pany had made in past years and which should have gone to the general; public in. the direction of a' reduction in the price of gas.
