Miss Kilgour, matron of the-Kumar.i Hospital, returned on Monday last from her annual holiday, which she snent in various, parts of this and the North Island, Hanrherand Palmerston being included her in her itinerary.— - Times. ' •

Mr. R. J. Williams, foreman for the Greymouth Harbor Board, .will be nominated, for a seat" on -Jiie Borouigh Council -to-day. Mr. William Blair in all probability will be nominated for the vacarit seat on; the Education Board. -,

H. Lindwall, a fisherman, living at Belfast, ChCh., died suddenly :at Southbridge. He tef t for Southbridge in the morning, , actompanied . by a friend named Christiansen, and apparently was quite well then. It is supposed that death. was due to hear*disease. He leaves a widow.

A pleasant little function took place at the Kumaia (Hospital when Nurse A'Court was made the 'recipient of. a breakfast crueti and table cruet from the' staff and patients. Dr. Phillips made the presentation, ( and briefly referred to Miss-A'Court's work at the hospital.

A very pleasant • evening was spent at the Bost Office Hotel, Hokitika on Wednesday, to bid farewell •to Miss Dwan, on the eve of her approaching marriage, Mr Bade presented Miss Dwan, on behalf of the boarders, and friends with a handsome travelling rug, silver- cake stand, and maltese lace scarf. Jackson proved himself a very capable spokesman as in; asking. Mrs and Miss Knox -to ' accept the presents- he enlarged on the many > homely, and social attributes of both ladies and on. behalf . of their friends present and those unable to be so, expressed the regret they all felt at their, loss of such good neighbours and friends. ' He wished- them, every, happiness in their new home in Hawke'.s ±Jay where Mrs Knox is going.- Mr C. McKechnie in very felicitous. terms thanked the visitors for their useful presents arid the kindly expressed sentiments. •
