At the Magistrate's iCourt before Mr. Hewutt, S.M., the flllowing cases were dealt wiifh yesterd^ morning:—

if.DRUNKENNESS. ' Patrick Neville was jsgbarged with being drunk in Herbert? street on the 11th inst. Convicted and fined os.

MAITENANCE ORDER. F. McLntyxe |/aa changed with arrears of a maintenance order of £5 lls costs and 17s 6d order . for his illegitimate child. ■ Defendant said he had three homes to keep. The Magistrate .made an order for 2s 6d a week besides, the maintenance fee of 7s 6d a week. Bertha J. Vial wias charged with failing to support her child, the arrears being j£6:2s. In reply to #*c Inspector witness said, that in October. 19li. {her child Was committeed to the Industrial School and a promise 'made forvthe .payment of os a week. Ka-d ■■. not"; :been done. She had tow accounts to pay in Otira^when she arrived at Kumara. She^idid not have any money at all, and couldnot save anything out of the ten shillings. The Magistrate made an order for one shilling a. week towards the arrears, and. five shilliangjk' for maintenance, making 6s a we^k. If she was paying 15s a week, for^ dress she could pa something towards^ her child. If she did not keep up her payments he would send her to gaol.
