GREY EDUCATION BOARD.

A meeting of the Grey Education Board was held last evening. Prds'fcnfc —Messrs J. Flynn, R. Ryall, J. Me Carthy W. R. Kettle, J. Noble, F. Kilgour, J Kerr CHAIRMAN'S REPORT. So fax as the short interval since your last meeting permitted I have amended to the various matters entrusted to me. Blackball School.— l vkiited this school on the 9th inst, and found that the present, fence is in need of repain 1 , and that some seven chains. 1 ' of new fencing- is req\iirod to enclose portion of <the more recently acquired playground sections. Appl'icaitiom for a '.Special grant for this work has been three times refused by 'the Department. At my request the Commirtea invited tenders for the work and one for £B 10s 0d repairs to old fence and ,£8 10s Od, cost of ,iiew one, itotal £12 has been received and this I advise . being accepted by the Board. The main building is in good repair, bu,t the following matters* reqiuire immediate attention:— 1. Small leak in xoof — (probably rain coming- through a defective veniijii-i la/tor.) 2. Patch 0f ..15ft. faulty iron on roof of old building. 3. The covering of a disused shaft in tlie playiground has rotted away, amd ithe shaft requires filling up. 4.
