' , The Blackwatcr Extended Gold Mining" Company applied for protection of their property. M: Hannan stated that Mr: -Ziinan was leaving this month for Home where ho would endeavour to float a company wi.lx a working- capital of not le«s than ,£50,000. What was required was pro-.; 'Lection for twa months in the meantime, : and the Minister of Mines- be lecominended to protect the property for 12 umontts. • William Turner, mining engineer at jLyell, said he was interested in what is known as the Prohibition claim. They would requre fullyy £50,000 to de velop the property. Any money spent at the present time would be useless. ; Donald McDonald, • proprietor at Waiuta, said he know the Prohibition claim, and there w?.s great difficulty in prospecting it. A good deal of workbad been done. The claim could be only worked by a deep level. The Magistrate stated tha.t he would grant two -monhs' protection, and an advertisement be : put in the Reefton papers regarding vbe twelve "months' protection .so as to give objectors a chance. Next Tesday the matter can again come up and he would, if there nre no objections, recommend , the twelve months protection to the 'Minister oi' Mines. :
