THE DOMINION YEAR-BOOK.
Messrs Whtltcombc and Tombs, Limited, have issued a year-book and almanac for 1912 that will be found very .handy, for ■ offices. It 's of course not so pretentious as the Year-book issued by the Government, •but. the table of contents shows that it~ contains a remarkable variety of useful information of a kind that is very often wanted but that -no head could carry. The mere enumeration of the items fill sever a.l pages of the book, and relates to .-a" thousand and one thi-ngs from the 'commonest abbreviations to tjhe world ; s harvest dates, from 'birth registration to wharf rates- at eighteen New Zealand ports, gardening and insurance, the farm calendar, first aid, fishing regulations, a diary, ' th,e eclipses of the year, everything that is likely to be wanted in respect to education, the electoral laws, the magistrate's courts, harbour board dues, and a' gr-eat deal more regarding cvery-day requirements that, as the auctioneers say,- are "100 numerous to particularize." Altogether it is a very handy reference •book, published at one 'shilling.
