MR MICHEL AT HUMPHREYS
A SPLENDID MEETING,
The s.chcolhouse a tHumphreys was filled when Mr Michel addressed the electors of thai district; on Thursday night. Mr Bernard Ward, M.C.'C, was voted to the chair, and in the course of a eulogistic speech said by the way of introducing the: candidate that Westland and the Dominion were fortunate in having" Mr Michel's services ,at their disposal, and he felt sure that West;land, on this occasion, would not losq ilie opportunity of sending him to represent "them in Par liamont. M>t -Ward's remarlcs were meeting with eviden; approval.
The candidate's speech waa frequently applauded. After its conclusion
several questions were asked by me/Qibors of the audience, and promptly replied to by Mr Michel, tlie replies meeting with evident 'approval.
Mr Edward Pennington moved that a liearty vote of tlianks be accorded :he speaker for Ms very fine .address. In speaking to the. icsoJution, he said that Wegtland could no*J possibly get a better man to represent them dn Parliament than Mr Michel,
Mr. Cameron seconded the motion, which was. carried unanimously.
Mr Michel in- aciknowledging the compliment said he was pleased tq be able to rake the opportunity of 'thanking the-., residents of Humphreys for their continued loyal support. He remembered with gratefulness that he had received 49 votes at their polling booth at last election while nine were only cast against him. Three of these he understood were not at that time residents of the locality. He concluded by moving a vote of thanks to the chairman, who. he congratulated on being, .returned unopposed, for another three years to the WostJand County Council as represen^ativa foathe Arahura Riding. The gathering then dispersed, hearty cheers being ■ given • for Mr Miclie". • .

The meeting of Mr H. L. Michel^s supporters held in 'the Junction • Hall 3 , Dillman's was very ■enthusiastic. ;,'Mr Gerald Dillon occupied the chair^ and eloquently put 'before "the Peering 1 the attributes of the gentleman in whose cause they had me:. His speech was punctuated with applause.
It was resolved thai! all (present form themselves into a committee to work in Mr Michel's ' interests, with power to add to their number.
■Mr H. Jones was unanimously elect ed chairman ,of the commititee, and Mr J. Whitis'kie, secretary.
An executive committee will be fon
The lauieg present also formed themselves in;o a committee, officers for which will be appointed ,at a future meeting.
Short addresses were delivered by Messrs H. Foster, D. Ryan (senr.), D. Neville, T. Dunne and J. Lanini.
A vote of thanks t. o Mr Dillon for presiding and three cheor.s fe Mr Michel terminated a very enthusiastic meeting 1 .
From the tone of the speakers' addresses it is probab'lo that Mr Michel will again secure a majority of votes at Diihnans.
