H e is beine: succeeded at Nelson by Mr R. W. Monson, now at Oamaru. Messrs. Murdoch (Mayor), W. H. Ev,enden and R. C. Bell (President and secretary respectively of the Kumara District Miners' Association) leave to-day for Wellington to urge upon the Governr/v^nt the necessity of purchasing the Erin-go-brajrh water-race and shifting the main road. M r James Stewart, youngest son. of the Rev R. Stewart, iand one of the staff ojf the' looal branch of the Union Bank received word of his promotion lo the Ashiburton branch of the bank as ledger keeper. Mr Stewart is to be highly 'congratulated on his promotion and he will leave during- the week to take up his new duties.
