<^~ Mr G T Moss who\ has been visiting Christchurch and Wellington, arrived home on Saturday night. Mr Fred Lindop,. of the Bank of New Zealand, has received word of Vs promnHon to Ron,gatea, and leaves on Wednesday. Mr Lmdop s many friends wll wish him continued success. Mr. W. H. Price, managed of the Nelson- ' Branch of the Union Company for five and a-half years, prior to which he was stationed at Greymouth, has been transferred on promotion to Invercargill-Bluff office. H e is beine: succeeded at Nelson by Mr R. W. Monson, now at Oamaru. Messrs. Murdoch (Mayor), W. H. Ev,enden and R. C. Bell (President and secretary respectively of the Kumara District Miners' Association) leave to-day for Wellington to urge upon the Governr/v^nt the necessity of purchasing the Erin-go-brajrh water-race and shifting the main road. M r James Stewart, youngest son. of the Rev R. Stewart, iand one of the staff ojf the' looal branch of the Union Bank received word of his promotion lo the Ashiburton branch of the bank as ledger keeper. Mr Stewart is to be highly 'congratulated on his promotion and he will leave during- the week to take up his new duties. Mr Bell, eft the Nelson branch, will be his successor. , The funeral of the lat c Mrs H. B. Violich, Avho died at Molesworth street, WiCillington), on. Sunday 17th, took place at Karori "cemeitery last Wednesday. A requiem mass was I held in the Basilica, Hill Street in the morming, Rev Father Peoples taking the service (both at the church and th'a grrave. ; The deceased lady, who was a naMve of Victoria,, came to New Zealand im the old gold ..days, landing in Hokrtika some forty years ago. She settled in Greymouth, and thirteen -years ago went to Wellington and took up residence an Molesworth street, wheitQ she had since resided. Mrs. Violich leaves a large, grown-up family, who reside in. various parts of tji<e. Dominion!. One of ths sons, Mr Pero 'Whito, for many years was .on the staff of 'the "Gney River /Vrgus,"
