in ■ SEVERAL LIVES LOST. (By Electric Telegraph— Copyright.? (Red 12.27 a.m.) LONDON, May 10. During the last act of a performance in the Empire Palace Theatre, Edinburgh, which the ' King intended to visit, as. cabled on March 30, the stage properties caught fire and the screen was instantly dropped. The house, emptied in admirable order. There were many performers in their rooms. Some fainted. The majority .escaped safely; but Mr Lafayette.and several of the members of his company were overwhelmed. Seven ibodies, including Lafayette's were recovered , from the ruins. The stage fire was confined to the back of the theatrej which collapsed.
