POLLUTING A RIVER.
(By Telosraph— Per. Pr?: 5 Association) PALMERSTON N., May 9. E. P. Levein and H Jarvis, flaxmillers were each fined £2 and costs tor depositing flaxmill refuse in the (Jura river in contravention of the Fisheries- Conservation Act. Jarvis also fined £2 and costs for permitting- flaxmill refuse to be deposited where it could be blown into a river.
