SHAREHOLDERS MEETdNG.

WELLINGTON, Feb/ 2.

A meeting of ithe shareholders in •the Waihi Goldmining Company was held at tihe Wellington Stock Exchange last evening. Fifty-seven shareholders were present, (holding a large number of shares.

An animated discussion took place ■upon the position of the mine as disclosed .by the circular of January 28th issued by the order of the Board of Directors.

As • a result, the following iresolu\ons were passed unanimously :— r

1. That the directors of it-he Waihi Gold Mining Company ibe requested to obtain a report by personal investigation, from a first-class mining engineer non resident in New Zealand upon (a) The tonnage ana value of itlhe ore already developed in the mine ; (ib) to report on tihe ineitihods of mining; (c) to report on the various reduction, mills and tlieir situation particularly with respect to the course prevailing of ■ having th/ree mills separated ; (d) as to the processes followed in the extraction of the precious metal and as to its suitability and economy; (c) upon the im'achmery as a whole and as as whether the money has been well spent or otherwise ; (f ) to advise as to the system to be followed in developing the mine in the "\iture.

2. That this meeting views \vi h alarm the statement upon it 'by th«\ directors on January 28th seeing that it is conflict . -with statements published within -the last few montihs by the Company's directors in Auckland.

3. That the management of the mine 'be placed under tihe personal supervision of a first-class mining en-

4. That all .reports cabled or otherwise 'be published similarly in New Zealand and London.

5. That effective steps be taken by the directors to prevent the giving of information relative to the developments of the mine to the detriment of the great body of shareholders and to the tgreat advantage of the persons •so concerned.

6. That all shareholders lot -asked to sign proxies in favour" of some shareholder (to he named subsequently) to be. used in London at the annual .meeting, for the purpose of ensuring the foregioiing- resolutions be■jnqr given effect to. '

AUCKLAMD, Feb l 2

The Stock Exchange has resolved to invite the Waihi share!holder.s to at-

tend a meeting at an early date. Those who have held shares during -the past six months are also invited -to be present. Shares to-day sofd at from 75s to 73s 3d.
