.-'By Telegraph—Per Press Association; WELLINGTON Nov. 21. Twelve -prisoners were sentenced by the Chief Jus vice to-day. Regarding a sexual offender, His Honor sard that he had never ordered a flogging and would not do so in this case. Referring to Griffiths, charged with house breaking, he said: "The jury acc/uitted you on another charge, but I am of opinion that you were guilty of both." Jno Baylou : for - attempted carnal knowledge, received five yeors. Jno Ea.rnshaw amd Henry Robert Hunt, were sentenced for burglary ,the former to 18 months the latter to 18 months' probation. . Will : .am Lavery, for carnal ,knowledge, received four years. James Vincent was declared an 'habitual' 'criminal: Jno Lewis, Charles Weston, for breaking and entering and ■ assault /and .-robbery received two years amd declared-. habitual criminals/ Charles Cunning ham wa s sentenced to two years. [ John Crim'h'S, for, house breaking, received 12 month. - ' Alexander Taylor, for theft on the, high seas received -six months. His Honor refused to grant probation. Frederick Blacksadge, : for housebrealdng, was /sentenced to twelve months.' ; - ,■ • John Charles Seymour, ailias Char-, les Simkiss, for theflt of jewellery, 'received. 12 month s concurxemitly with a sentence he is now serving.
