"Is the Government going to keep its promise to bring- down a Bill dealing with the Meikle case this session?" This was a question asked of the, Hon T. Mackenzie by Mr Wright, M.P, for- Wellington' South' <to-day. Mr Wrights ; exp.iai'ned that this Bill was included in the list of measures "which the. Premier : had •, anriclunced would be proceeded with this session. • In reply the Minister istated- that Mr" Wright had better give notice •. of l^is question. -It. .was* he added, of 00. great importance to be disposed of without notica .r By way of -a rejoinder -Mr ! Wright added that 'the 'last' occasion that he asked the question he got an answer •in >the affirihative. It seemed to him- that the promise was -in'or going to be- carried out-, his session. 'Subsequently Mr Wright put- a similar question to the . Prime ' Minister, who was. absent when -he first "broughi up, the. .matter. ; Sir Joseph said that to a deputation he had', stated that he intended to !submit either legislation or a vote in regard to the . matter. If had been found tha; legislation, on the subject would .be, .particuliarly difficult. ; In addition- Mr Meikle had -informed him that he. did -not favour legislation. •What he wanted was a vote. He proposed to ask . the • House"- to make provisoh' •on the.
