HOCKEY NOTES

Hockey on the Coast this yeaf should show a record judging by the enthusiasm players are showing in bejing out) on the park every evening for the past two or three weeks. Also 1 , the Association is showing a little more vigour than last year by having the senior competition starting on Saturday next, and the junior the x following Wednesday. Yet the Association have, a most important work still to do a& the ground requires remarking and the goal posts and nets are to be erected. All this snould have *been done two or three weeks ago so as to have enabled players to get in more accurate practice for the coming season, which ought to end successfulfy iv the Wesb Coast Association sending 'a 1 thorough representative team away to play for the New Zea; land Hockey Shield, which is now held by Wellington, who tlef eated Auckland last year.
