(Red 11.40 p.m) LONDON, Aug 3The Spectator estimates 'that the new taxation required for 1909 will be at least 16 millions. It is impossible toxaise .the amount without jeopardising free trade. There are fears that the voters will not stick to free trade •when the tariff reformers assure them that the fiscal embarasßments will altogether vanish if the country will per mit the tariff experiment to be tried.
