The Acting Mayor received the following telegram last evening from Hokitika :— "At a large public meeting held here in connection with mining, before proceeding with business, the following resolution was carried: jr-'That this public meeting having just heard of the death, of Mr Joseph Metric, Mayor of the Borough of Greymouth, joins with' the Mayor and Coun cillors of Hokitika m extending to Mrs Petrie, the family, and the citizens of Greymouth, sincere sympathy tin their loss."— H.
