At th.c annual meeting of the Auckland Grocers' Assistants' Union, the following officers were elected for the ensuing twelve months : — President Mr G. Treacy (re-elected) ;. vice-presi-dent, Mr H. Manning ; treasurer, Mr P. Eaton ; secretary, Mr Arthur Rosser (re-elected).
It has been definitely decided to send a New Zealand University football team to Sydney in July "next. The team will play two matches against Sydney University, and probably one against combined nublic schools. It is hoped that the inter-University matches will be the beginning of an annual series. A football team representing Sydney University came to New Zealand and played a match with separate University Colleges last season. In future matches will only be arranged by Sydney University with teams representing the entire University of New Zealand.
At the annual installation of the members oF the Lazaar Lodge No 1689 E.C., a few days ago. the following brethern were invested by Worshipful Br 0 Bevan D.G.M., assisted by 1) G M. Bro H. Preston. A large number of visiting brethren were .present. Bro A. Stewart was invested S.W., and Bro W. Duckworth P.M.J.W; Bro W H. Evenden P.M, treasurer; Bro F. Thorn, I. P.M, secretary. After the ceremony the brethren were invited to a banquet at the Forresters' Hall when the Grand Master gave a n eloquent ad dress, and the 'brethren spent a mos:. enjoyable evening. The gathering was brought to a close by the singing of Auld Lang Syne.
