GREYMOUTH SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of the Greymouth School Committee was held in the Education Board Office last evening. Present— 'Messrs Morris (chair), Forsyth, Ferens, Gittos, Jackson, Ashton. HEADMASTER'S REPORT. Mr Adams, headmaster, reported as follows : — ■ PRIMARY DEPARTMENT. Mr Wood vas absent on the whole of 'the 2ast, the rfte noon of the 23rd, and the afternoon of the 24tb ' MISCELA-NEOUS. "A Progress Examiaation Register and a packet of screws (sample herewith) are required." . The report "was adopted. The Education Board forwarded Inspector Scott's report on matters submitted to him ,by the committee in regard to the staffing of the school and overcrowding of the infant room. (The report has already been published in this journal.) ' Mr Gittos said the report was a farce. Inspector Scott should have visited the school on a fine day when the room was overcrowded. Eighteen inches was not sufficient for a child | °The chairman moved that the report lie on the table. Carried. Mr Austin applied for three half days to enable him to sit for University examination in November. On the motion of Messrs Jackson and Gittos the request was grfTrted. The secretary* was instructed to gel prices for a register book, for the Grey school. - , • The chairman reported that he visited the school during the month and found everything in a satisfactory C °Mr t Ashton reported that everything was going well in connection with the school concert. Mr 0. Egden had promised to get up a farce for the second uart. The tickets were now out and were going off- well. The Visiting Committee for the month— Messrs Ashton and Bignell.
