The Britishers went down at the 800 yards, while the NewZealanders came out on top, Australia following; fouo: points behind. At goo yards the New Zealanders again topped, the score beating Australia by •a couple of points, and Britain by ten. Entering the last stage Australia had a lead of twenty-five points from New Zealand, but the Dominion riflemen fell away sadly at the long range, allowing Australia to lead them by twenty-three points and Britain by fourteen. (Reed. 30th, 0.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, Oct. ag. At one stage of the Empire match there was a prospect of an interesting finish for the New Zealanders more than held their own, but the long range gave the Australians advantage. The British team, firing doggedly, made a close finish for second place, and it looked as if the Motherland would beat the New Zealanders substantially, but at a critical stage Raven went to pieces. A. Cutler comes out as the champion of all the teams, his aggregate" of 271 .being a points ahead of McHaffiie, Britisher, who was the next best iondividual scorer. •Major-General Wood, # addressing the teams at the conclusion, said all would join in heartfelt congratulation to the New Zealanders, who put in a stern ding-dong fight. Colonel Hoprton, Commandant of the British team, also congratulated the New Zealanders. Cresswell replied and expressed pride at being the leader of the second team. , , The Australian team cheered the New Zealanders and Britishers. '
