The Arahura from north is due this morning, and leaves on her return trip at 11 o'clock this evening. The Rosamond left on Saturday afternoon for Timaru with a full cargo of timber. The Kotuku left on Saturday even-_ ing coal laden for Wellington. The Kaituna with a full cargo oif timber leaves to-day for Lyttelton. The Petone leaves this evening with a cargo, of. coal for .Lyttelton. The Ripple after a rough trip of three, days from the Bluff arrived on Saturday evening. The Alexander from Wellington .and Nielson is due here on Wednesday. The Koonya. arrived from Dunedin on Saturday night arid loads coal for Bluff, Dunedin and Oamaru. The' Kittawa arrived yesterday from Lyttelton and loads coal and sleepers for the same port. The Wainui is due to-day from Onehunga, and leaves this evening-coal-laden for New Plymouth and Onehunga. Mr R. MoKendrick, late chief engineer of the Hawea, left for England by the Gothic on the 18th inst. Captain Tate has taken command of. the Taviuni. The urgent necessity for increased ■wharfage accorramodation at Onehunga was again exemplified on the 15 th inst. When the Takapuna arrived ■from New Plyrhouth there were seven vessels berthed, and she' had to "double bank" outside the Corinna. This' caused a lot of ; delay and inconvenience, because luggage and mails had to be taken out of the Takapuna by means of the Corinna's , derricks. Trade at Onehunga has grown to such extent that the facilities provided at the wharf for shipping are now inadequate.
