WELLINGTON July 25. At a meeting of 'the Management Committee of. the New Zealand Rugby Union this evening a letter, was read from the Wanganui Union asking that its 'match with Auckland be approved as an" ordinary challenge match for the Ranfurly Shield. This was acceded to. The question of the Auckland-Hawke's Bay match at Auckland on August ioth "bei ag declared a special challenge match again came up for consideration. The committee now decided that the match be a special challenge, the Hawke's Bay Union being allowed to pay tra as it expenses for a reasonable number 'of players from Napier to Auckland and back to Napier. It was decided to ask the South Canto .tury Union for further information about the player who was disqualified till the end of 1908 for being drunk on thVfiSd'-of play, it being thought that the sentence •■■oa •this person was too lenicr.v. Coiviuleration of an appeal, by the '- : *vc Pioneer Club against its, di^ahficatum by the Southed -Uniori was deterred for further information.
