CONDITIONS OF NFW TENDER
(Reed 4th, 10.7 p.m.) .MELBOURNE, . July 4The House passed a month's supply Mr Deakin, in reply to questions, said that the . Government had already taken steps to get the forfeited mail conract bond converted into cash. New tenders will be called immediately and will be returnable in three months. They will provide for a spe- - fie time . in which the steamers must be built and the penalty for failure to fulfil the contract will be double that in connection with the first contract. Mr Deakin states that the contract for the mails was cancelled because the additional bond was not forthcoming. : The original bond of .£25,000 Avail be forfeited .although it is understood that the Government do not intend to deal harshly with the syndicate. LONDON, July 4- . The Shipping .Gazette understands that the mail syndicate had arranged for its debenture issue.
