SIGNIFICANT FIGURES
INVERCARGILL, Mar. 1. The duty collected on local beet consumed here last month amounts J to ;£i64 19s, qd as compared v.-tih ,£125 16s 3d in the same month last year. On imported beer — that is beer made outside the .electorate — the duty last month was 14s 6d. Tbe returns relating to other kinds of liquors are as follows^ the figures 'or February., 1006 being 'given in parenthesis : wines, sparkling, £4. 10s {£& jos) ; Australian lis ad (^46 4s) ; other kinds £27 8s sd-.(^si .17s ' id) ;■ spirits 10s (^1331 7s 6d). It will thus be seen ,that the revenue from liquor of various sorts du r in;r February last was 13s iod as compared with. £1556 3s iod in Ftbruary, 1906, an increase of £5%7 ios.
