The* Hon J. T Peacock, M:L.C, w a6 seized with a. paralytic stroke yesterday afternoon and his recovery is considered doubtful. Mr Peacock was ene oi the earliest scttfclers in Canterbury. Mr H. L. Michel, of Hokitika was a visitor to town yesterday , Woi-d has been received in Wellington tliat Mr D. McGregor, of the New Zea land football team, at present at Home, is suffering from a strain, and will not bp able to play for some time. Mt D. McLeod, owing £o his work taking -him away frotn home, has re signed the! chairmanship of the Cobden School Committee. Mr Harper was elect ed to the position.
