Mesdaines .vLillington and Parkinson wVre the chi?f oi-ganisers, and ithey were ably assrsted by others. Tlie Fair has taken montlus of hard work, and thp ladies aie to be COUgra(tulatcd on tlie excellence of the tn 'HC'rtainnient; 'provided. The Mayor (Mr J. A. Petrie) opened the Fair and in a neat speech by referred to the valuable woTk performed by Mr Dixon, one of Greymdurh's foremost citisieais; who had taken on this ardoua work purely f or love and with a desiTe to provide a suitably place foT tlhe children to play in. Mr Dixon deserved the oesf tlianks of the town -for his efforts, and he; f?jt sure the money gathered from this Fair would bs faithfully applied. Mr Dixon thanked the Mayor for his conplimeiitary Temarks, and said ifc was to be Tegretted tQiat ■th; s town of Gieymouth did not possess a proper Tecrea:ion ground. His *ffort6 on behalf of the children had been a 3abor of love, and he deshed to thank all who nad rendered him assistance . (Applause). '.A visit of inspection was then paid lo the stalls. Th c hall was tastefully t'tcora/Jed, and the' stalls wfcrer. laden with useful articles, all of which found ready puTchasers. The Fancy stall was in charge of Mts R. Parkinson, assisfed by Miss O. Millington, B. Parkinson, and A. Brimble. Tlve stall was very attrac : cive and tastefully arranged. The Gipsy fpiit; was well patronised, and Mts G. W Sampson pleased all with her reading of the future. The Refreshment' stall was the centre of attraction, and the Misses Artietti, ,Rogeri and' others were) kept; going .throughout- the afternoon 1»-ud evening. These young ladiels deserve a word of praise, and also does Mrs Arnetfc who had the supervision. The fishing pond did "roaring business" and was ably carried on by Mt F. Parkinson ami Mies Brimble. The Flow er sMI wa3 a pretty picture, and credit is due. to Mrs and Miss Dixon.
During tible afternoon and " evening fourteen little dqts, prettily. tlTessed, danced the Maypole under the direction of Miss H. Skoglund, who is c-o he congratulated' on the way the cWHr-en acquitted thflmselyes, The! children presented a veTy pretty sight. " Two little doits Constance Morice and Jessie. Okey acted as .-<fe May Queens and looked charming. TJie following took part ia the dance: — O!aric c Harper, GerH c de Bcirry. Beatrice Parkinson, Otta Millingfcon, Gwen Thomas, Vera Arneit, Martha RugE. Vera Parkinson, Molly Smrift, Lily Bennington, Vera O^sfiam, an<j Gwen Sampson, Throughout itfyg 1 evening the stalls fish ponds, and th c nail driving competition were largely patronised. The Fair was a great; success in -every way and will grea,tly assist ihe funds of the Park - Mrs Seddon was present dnr'jisj the afternoon and evening and wag dcligiited with the way th^ Fair was conducted.
