Kumara Notes
(Our Correspondent.) ' J. A. Murdoch, Esq, was elected unopposed to the position of Mayor. i Seats in the local Borough Council are alt premium, the Retuming-Onicer having received no less than thirteen nominations viz — Jas. S. Benyon, H. Burger, senior, Win Campbell, Martin Eggleton, C. Evendon, W. B. Gilbert, T. T. Jones, John Jorgenson, Thos Marks, R. McGlone, Robert Rouse, Geo. Stanton, and "Wcjftland's famous tenor Mr Stephen Stokes. I was pleased to learn at the Hospital this morning that Mrs Ellen Kito, the old lady who fell over Trepo's old sluicing face a distance of '40 feet, Jiad" passed a fair night. It seems almost incredible that an old lady 70 years of age, could survive without any kind of nourishment, esp^ially after tlie serious injuries sha liad received, as it is proved beyond a doubt that she left Mrs M'Mahons residence at 8 p.m. on Wednesday and tlie spot- where the unfortunate old lady fell over the face is within two chains of M'Mahon's. place.
