(Received 8, at 4 30 p.m.) London, March 7. The South Australian AgentGeneral cabled to his Government asking for reliable information regarding the Arltunga gold field. The Daily Mail's Sydney correspondent mentions teports of the discovery of abundant gold, one report referring to hil s of gold which only need quarrying. He also states that the assays made at Adelaide _how extraordinary richness. The Pall Mall Gazette says that " hills of gold" sounds a tall order, but remembering Mount Morgan it would not bo extraordiuary if Arltunga prove as rich as scores of other Australian fields. Nevertheless it advises
cautious acceptance of the picturesque and probably exa {ger.ited report s . ; The Westminsser Gazette says that a " quarry of gold" is a phra-e distasteful to E-iglish investors. Y. t hills of gold are not not novelties in Australia. ' ' —
