(rER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Dunedin, January 20. An inquest whs held by C C. Graham, coroner, touching the death of Mrs Eiiza Ellen Mayhead, 35 years, and her _on, William Mayhead, who were found drowned in a bath at their house on Monday evening. Very little news was elicited. The unfortunate woman was undor the care of Dr Fulton. She had shawu a slight suicidal tendency and she waa watched, but th j woman who had been engaged L ft and the nuise engaged going to the house on Saturday found the husband and wife out. She told the doc or, who advis- d her to waifc till Monday. Deceased urged her husband to go fco work on Monday, assuring him thafc she was well. Dr Fulton said thafc he was satisfied when the acfc was committed Mrs Mayhead was not in her right mind. The Rev | Harding, who saw deceased very shortly before sho died, said that she seemed much b>ightef, and he thought showed a . great improvement over Saturday. The jury wifchoufc retiring brought in a verdict fchafc William Mayhead was murdered by his moiher, who was in an uwsound state of mind and that Eliza El en Mayhead com mitted suicide while in an unsound state of mind. The coroner said that in these cases it seemed hard to make use of the word murder, bufc the sting was taken away from it by tho fact that the woman was not accountable for her actions.
