(To the editor.) Sir, — It was quite refreshing to see how you brought the big Mackay street editor to his bearings. This town is not going to be run by a mob or certain clio,ue. The Hon Mr Seddon told the Harbor Board not to be too extra vaganc in spending money, wot that he wanted to cast any reflection, but he thought that enough was being done for the present. Coming back to the town affairs : we have the Band rotunda a laughing-stock to the whole town. Strangers aak ** Whac is it" 'I Well they may. The ga3 which has been so much made of by buying out the old company, has not tended to reduce the price to the ratepayers. What was it bought for ? To be a source «f revenue for the barough. As far as the " duck pond" is concerned, that may come in handy for a juvenile regatta, Our chief Magistrate when he lies down at night must think " What a wonderful man am T."--I am, etc, Juxirs, January 19th, 1903.
