Beauchamp was disqualified for twelve months for alleged running in the interests of the other competitors. The stewards recommend the League to disqualify him for life. From a good start Lewis looked like making a runaway race of it. Beauchamp paced Martin up and then re tired. Entering the last lap Middleton was leading ab this point ; Martin, however, passed him half a l<p from home and won a fine race by three lengths. Time 429 3-5.
